For fast food, you can never go wrong with Schlotzsky’s. It’s the sandwich version of Chick-Fil-A. Always clean, always friendly, and always fresh. The Schlotzsky’s in Jacksonville doesn’t disappoint. We visited on a Saturday afternoon along with several families, a busy drive through, and a couple of drop ins. Fast and friendly service, and the dining room was spotless.
Drink fountain contains a lot of options compared to most places, allowing you to add cherry or vanilla to your drinks. Sandwiches came out hot, chips were in tact and not broken, and we got our meal in less than 5 minutes. Fantastic.
Schlotzsky’s has changed over the years. I get it. Food costs are skyrocketing and good help is difficult to find. The Original sandwich has changed from its roots. It still tastes similarly than it’s real original, but it’s not as robust as it once was. That’s not the fault of the Jacksonville location though. It’s just good business.
There were almost no cons here. The only one I can pinpoint is the drive through. The drive through is very tight. If you have a large truck you may not get through the turn after the speaker so be prepared. There’s also a note on the door that says due to staffing shortages, they’re opening later than normal.
Looking for a job? I can’t think of a nicer, cleaner place to create some roots.
